John and Laura Moore, a father and daughter from Gallup, completed a cross-country pilgrimage to the March for Life earlier this year. Their story is the focus of an episode of “Everyday Heroes”, a series from the Knights of Columbus.

Diocese Cuts Ties with “Zoom” Communications
In June, 187 companies from around the United States placed a full-page ad in the New York Times stating their full support for abortion and pro-abortion legislation. One of the companies was Zoom Video Communications, which our Diocesan Education Office has used for internet meetings over the past several years.
Due to the company’s vocal support for abortion, the Diocese of Gallup will cease all business with Zoom and will instead be seeking the use of an alternative platform for online meetings and presentations.
Our monthly transactions with Zoom were not large, but large or small, we cannot contribute to a company with anti-life policies. It is distressing that the CEOs who paid for the ad call abortion restrictions “bad for business”, as if the life of a human being can be measured solely in monetary and economic value. We wholeheartedly reject this view. Each human, made in the image and likeness of God, is inherently worthy and has a right to life, from conception to natural death. We do not want to lose even a single future child, future student, future mother, father, sister or brother to abortion.

In providing the highest-quality Catholic education to our students, we must also strive to follow Christ and the teachings of his Church. We cannot truly be Christlike if we cooperate with evil or provide monetary support – even in the smallest amount – to other companies and institutions who promote and foster abortion, euthanasia, or other anti-life actions.
Obituary for Fr. Robert Garrione
ALEXANDRIA, La. — Rev. Robert Michael Garrione, 69, passed away Oct. 19, 2019 at Summit Retirement Center, Alexandria. He was born Feb. 24, 1950, in Salina, Kan., to Alfonso Jacob Garrione and Josephine Patricia Mason. He was ordained a Roman Catholic priest, May 20, 1989.
As a young boy, Robert always played “church” and was the preacher. He attended school in Salina and upon graduation from high school attended Marymount College, Salina, and later, Conception Seminary College, Conception, Mo. He continued his education for the priesthood at Holy Apostles Seminary, Cromwell, Conn., receiving his bachelor’s degree. Later he received his Master of Divinity Degree at St. Joseph Seminary, Yonkers, N.Y. He also achieved a Bachelor of Sacred Theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas, Rome, Italy.
He ministered as a priest for four years in the Diocese of Gallup, serving in Holbrook and Pinetop, Ariz., and in Thoreau and Bluewater, N.M. In 1994 he pursued other ministry in Kansas and Colorado until resuming priestly activity in Alexandria, La. in 2007 where he ministered for nine years. During this time, Rev. Garrione held appointments in several parishes. He served as Administrator of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Campti and its missions; Parochial Vicar at St. Frances Cabrini Church and Principal of St. Frances Cabrini Parish School in Alexandria; and his last assignments as, Parochial Vicar at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and chaplain to the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.
Rev. Garrione was preceded in death by: his parents, and his brother, Gilbert Max Garrione. He is survived by: his brothers, Larry E. Garrione Sr., and Gregory J.Garrione; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Immaculate Conception Church, Solomon, Kan., with burial following in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Solomon.

The Grants Council of the Knight of Columbus and the Grants Food Pantry will present a Haunted Mine Tour on October 30 and 31. Bring canned goods and have some spooky fun!
