Catholic School Students Excel at Diocesan-Wide Miracle Fair

On Thursday, February 2nd, students and teachers from six Catholic Schools around the Diocese traveled to Gallup for Mass at the Cathedral and a diocesan-wide Miracle Fair.

At Mass, celebrant Bishop James S. Wall thanked the students and teachers for their dedication to education and learning.

During the Miracle Fair, students in three divisions chose a Catholic saint to present to a panel of judges, who then narrowed down the best presentations, choosing a winner and five runners-up from each division. After the school Mass, each student received his or her award from the bishop.

The student finalists, their schools, and chosen Saints are:

Elementary

1st – Lilyana Schneider, Show Low – St. Bernadette
2nd – Alexis Hattie, Zuni – St. Sofia
3rd – Dominic Biava, Gallup – St. John Bosco
4th – Sydni-Jo Hardy, SMIS – St. John of the Cross
5th – Ava Toivanen, Grants – St. Sava
6th – DeHayven, Manuel and Mason, San Fidel – St. John of the Cross

Middle School

1st – Julia Greer, Show Low – St. Andre Bessette
2nd – Lucas Rychener, Grants – St. Pius V
3rd – Santiago Trejo, Gallup – St. George
4th – Gabrielle Baca and Tavon Eustace, Zuni – St. Mary di Rosa
5th – Max, San Fidel – St. Paul of the Cross
6th – Hayden Roan and Jaelyn Curley, SMIS – St. Josaphat

High School

1st – Amber Woody, St. Apollonia
2nd – Brandi Dalgai – St. Adelaide
3rd – Lauralyn Nez – St. Alphonsus Liguori
