Friday News Roundup: Don’t Miss Out on Annual Youth Conference or Men’s Conference!

Registration Open for Annual Southwest Catholic Youth Conference

If you are a teenager or young adult who would like to spend a life affirming, wildly exciting day with hundreds of other Catholic youth, the 10th annual Southwest Catholic Youth Conference is for you. Coming October 23rd (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.), to the Farmington Civic Center, youth will gather to learn, sing, praise, and pray at this dynamic and fun one-day conference.

Very special guests include emcees Fr. Carl Wertin and Fr. Josh Mayer; speakers/singers/songwriters Steve Angrisano and Sarah Hart; Bishop Stephen Berg of the Diocese of Pueblo, and Bishop James Wall.

In remembrance of Fr. Daniel Hussey (1957-2021)

Fr. Daniel Hussey, a priest who served for many years in the Diocese of Gallup, passed away recently while serving as a priest for the Diocese of Reno, NV.

Fr. Hussey was born in Ireland and ordained a priest in 1985. In the Diocese of Gallup, he served at parishes in Gallup, Pinetop, Holbrook, Farmington, Aztec, Cuba, and Winslow. He also served multiple assignments in the United States military as a Navy Chaplain.

In 2012, Fr. Hussey was officially incardinated as a priest of the Diocese of Reno, Nevada.

The Diocese of Gallup has no further details regarding funeral or memorial arrangements at this time.

May his soul, and the souls of the faithful departed, rest in peace.

Day of Reflection for Both Native Youth and Lay Ministry Program

A Day of Reflection for Native American youth, ages high school to junior college, will be held at Sacred Heart Retreat Center on Saturday, September 11 from 10:00 am – 3:00 PM. The Papal encyclical Laudato Si and other topics will be covered. Mass will be celebrated and the Sacrament of Penance will be available. Limited to 30 persons. No fee. A Day of Reflection for the Native American Lay Ministry Program membership will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Sacred Heart Retreat Center from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. We will discuss issues in the Native American communities as we enter post-pandemic times, and will solicit feedback for the new pastoral plan for Native Americans by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). An outline of the major themes in the new pastoral will be sent to those who register by emailing: [email protected]
